Baby Naming Ceremony
A Baby Naming Ceremony is a relatively new idea, that is fast becoming very popular with many new parents who are not particularly or at all religious.
They are easily organised by mums and dads who know that they wish to mark their baby or child’s arrival, but want to do so in a tasteful way that isn’t overly religious. That said, the baby naming ceremony can and often is held in a church, or church hall
Baby Naming Ceremonies, can also be held wherever you want to, not just a church!, for example you could have it at your local school, or at home,or in your garden, the local Scout hut, village hall or even a restaurants venue room, all kitted out with lovely decorations.
Sometimes naming ceremonies can involved more than just the one child, for example if they are siblings they may share the day with either a brother or sister, or possibly both. Either way, it is important to ensure that all their personalities are catered for, and that their friends and family and other close connections are all involved, especially as they should all bring naming day gifts.
As to when is best to have a baby naming ceremony, the simple answer is, they can be held whenever you and baby or your child are ready. There’s no rush at all, some are also combined with first or even 2nd birthday celebrations, and some are held during the holidays to assist with time of for relatives who have to travel.
A typical baby naming ceremony may include some special readings or maybe poems either selected from previously written work, or home made. The home made versions are best because they can be tailored to your child’s personality etc. There can also be a parental promise to their baby or child, along with the appointment of godparents and even a symbolic action such as planting a special tree, or writing in a wish book.
There’s no exact script for a baby naming ceremony – it’s far too personal an event for that. Instead, every naming ceremony is tailored to meet the family’s needs.
Enjoy creating your own baby naming ceremony day based on your own preferences and the needs of your baby /child and family.
